Starting at Fordell School
Starting at Fordell school
On the 22 of May 2012 I moved to a new school. I was nervous because I only knew Tineisha ,Lou Lou and Ella. I felt happy because I had a teacher I all ready knew.
On the first day of school at morning tea I played pig hunting with Gemma and Tineisha . I thought pig hunting was fun. At my new school I was happy that I got new friend’s.
I started on Juanita and my Mum’s birthday. Gemma and I made a cake for Juanita and Isobella made a cake for my Mum, Kirsty.
On the second day of school we went out and played soccer with Mr Osmond . The next day it was Thursday and we played on the play ground .
On the play ground we played tag and we weren’t allowed to touch the ground but we were allowed four steps on bark and it is so much fun. After that we all played ball tag. We all played with a really small ball. I got tagged twice. Then the bell rang and everyone had to go to their class.
In my class room it is a little bit different. My teacher is really nice because she lets us do fun stuff like fun math, fun writing and fun handwriting and really ,really, really fun home work because we all get a sheet and we glue our sheet in and put our home work in our bag and take it home with our maths home work. We have to put it all in our book bag. Our homework maths is in a Fordell school maths book.

Read, Write, Grow. New Zealand Post Office Competition.
We have entered several pieces of writing into the, "Tell Your Story" Post Office Competition.
This is Georgina's. Unfortunately we had to reduce them to 300 words which meant some really good chunks of writing had to be edited out and in some cases the writing was not as graphic after editing.

The Day Dad Nearly Died
“Oh my God, Dad’s going to die!“ I watched with horror as Dad screamed backwards down the hill. He was heading for the strainer, if he hit that it would spring back on him. The dogs in the back weren’t moving, Dad and the Ranger were moving too fast.
Finally, Bridgette arrived. I had been waiting all morning for her and, because she was late, we had to go farming with Dad. We had better things to do. I gave her some gumboots and we all jumped in our Ranger. We were mustering one of our back hills. We went down the “Sunnyface,” an almost vertical hill. The sheep were now grazing in a paddock full of late summer grass. “We’re done here.”
We were driving up the “Sunnyface “ when the engine started making funny noises. Instinct told me that something wasn’t right. I tensed. Splutter pop pop. Then it was silent. No engine. No nothing. And then it dawned on me. We were in the middle of a hill. I jumped out and Bridgette followed. And then the ranger started moving backwards. With Dad and the dogs in it. Faster and faster they sped. Then… Crash! The Ranger crashed through the fence.
Dad disappeared when the Ranger hit the first fence and carried on backwards through the boundary fence . I started running down the hill. Then he appeared. “Dad,” My voice was shaking, “Are you all right?”
“Fine,” Dad shouted, “The dogs are too. Go up to the house and we can have some lunch.” Typical Dad, thinking about his stomach. I looked at the Ranger, stuck in the fence and I realized that Dad could’ve easily died if the Ranger rolled over or hit the strainer. And you might think that it’s not scary, but it was, in ways that words can’t tell.

The Pets I Have Had
The pets I have had.
I have had all sorts of pets through my life.
I first got two rabbits and two months later one got run over by a big truck while I was coming home from Virginia lake and having some raspberry ice cream. A week later the other rabbit escaped from its leash and got out from our back yard and ran away.
We then got two guinea pigs and about a month later one of the guinea pigs got sick and died and about a week later the other guinea pig got sick and died.
We then got two bright gold fish and three frogs. Two months later we found a frog in the bathroom and it was almost dead so we flushed it down the toilet. My brother, Ronan, wasn't feeding the fish and so one of the fish died and then another died so we bought lots more fish and Ronan didn’t catch any flies for the frog so it died.
For Christmas my youngest sister Isobella got a kitten for one of her presents. We called her Griffin and Griffin had babies. A year later my cat called Harry died. We were calling him but he didn’t come. So we bought four chickens and my chickens name was called Sophie but two months later she died because my dog keep biting her neck.
My dogs name was called Zeppelin we named him after the band called Led Zeppelin. Anyway that’s the pets I have had.

Duck Shooting
Duck shooting.
May 2nd, Me, Angus, Mum, Dad and Maggie went into the country near a lake. It took three and a half hours to get to the house we were going to stay in. When I got out of the car I said , “ I’m glad that’s over with.”
When I saw Josh, Willy and Greta I said, “Hi.” I asked Josh and Willy If they wanted to play soccer and of course they said, “Yes.” It was me and Willy verses Josh and Angus.
I started the game with a little dribble and then Angus came near me so I kicked the ball onto the other side of the hallway. I went round Angus and scored a goal. It was 8-0 me and Willie won. After an exciting game we had sausage's and bread for tea.
At 5 am. the men where getting their stuff ready to go to the lake for duck shooting.
At 6.50am we heard a gun shot . We woke up. We got dressed. Willie got dressed into his rugby gear. (He plays for Foxton.) Willie played at Carterton that morning and he got three tries. His team lost twenty, ten. Willie was disappointed that he lost.
On our way home we chatted about the rugby game. When we got back we had strawberries.
After our morning tea we did some scooter races. Johno was there. He went on the bike and Gretta went on a scooter. They have six scooters. Johno came over because I know him and his Mum is my Mum’s friend. We got on the starting grid. I said, “Ready, steady. GO.” We were off .Willie was in front, Josh was second, I was third, Angus fourth, Gretta came fifth and Johno came sixth. Next race I came second.
Before long we had to feed the horse. We fed it two apples. I didn’t want to feed the horse because I was afraid it might bite me. After tea time we watched Star Wars the Glow Wars.
When the dads got back they had shot fifteen ducks. Then it was bedtime.
In the morning we went to the shed where the dads were. They plucked the ducks with a sharp knife. Once they plucked the ducks it was time for us to leave.
It was an awesome weekend.

Big Thank You s
Mr. Hutchins cut and bevelled enough mirrors for everyone to have for observational drawing. Each class has a set. It must have taken him hours!!
Mr. Lower made us a special metal bracket to hang Cobi Cockburn's glass art work on the wall in our office. He had to cut and weld a very heavy piece of metal and we are very grateful especially to have Cobi's beautiful art work hanging at last.
We ahev written them thank you letters.

Grace's Narrative
My Pet Dolphins
I got squirted with water by my pet dolphins, Sally and Welford. I was dripping from the top of my head to the tip of my toes. I was very wet and unhappy.
I hugged my dolphins so that they didnt get angry when I’m not there. I feed them fish, Potatoes, Water melon and Candyfloss.
I swim with them on hot days. I put my togs on and jump in the pool. It make a splash. I ride on my dolphins and they jump into the air and go deep down to the bottom of the pool. My pet dolphins do tricks like back flips, forward flips and ballerina twirls and all other tricks when I’m not looking.
There is a witch near by and she knows that I have my dolphins. She is trying to get them and kill them because my pet dolphins are very loud. I have a plan so the witch won’t kill them. I should put an electric fence over the pool. I’m thinking it will work.
The Witch tried to get through, but her hair stood up and it turned red with grey tops and three warts on her face. Then she fell on the ground and that was the end of her.
My dolphins lived happily ever after.
