We all got into cars and drove into town to the Royal Opera House to see the Central New Zealand Air force Band.
Today's Trip.

The musicians started walking on to the stage and sitting on their seats. We saw some unusual instruments and we wondered what they were called.

When the music started we were amazed at how fantastic it sounded. The music went slow then higher. We liked the tunes which we knew.

It was funny too because the Master of Ceremonies was very funny.

We learnt about the different instruments and finished the whole show with YMCA.
It was a fun trip.

Origami

While our year 7 & 8 s were away for three days this week at Leadership Camp the year 6 students were in our class. We enjoyed having them very much. We read Sadako and the 1000 paper cranes. It was very sad but it got us inspired to make some origami. Origami is real brain gym and takes a lot of concentration. We made Japanese candy boxes and Mrs. Fraser put candy in them as we finished them. They were really difficult to make.

Leader of the Herd

Long, long ago when unicorns existed there was a land where only unicorns lived. There were many foals and still haps to come. There was an old, old stallion called Legend. He was the leader of a big, big herd.

One day they heard gunshots coming from the entrance and out came the form of a hunter. Legends nostrils quivered as the hunter stepped out. Not any hunter. He had hung his faithful companion called Red, who had helped him in his quest to find the four Gems and release this land!
“Hello lass,” he said “remember me?”

Legend reared and the hunter shot him in the heart. But then the lead mare came floating through the air and kicked him to death. Then she charged the other hunters followed by the unicorns.

They fought and fought but without the stallions help they were     losing. Half their army were dead, their land ruined, and all their faith gone.

Then their hearts rose as a neigh rang out as a stallion, leading a herd came in.

They must’ve just solved the riddle of the four gems!

They fought on bravely fighting with the new herd

After a whole month the unicorns won and the lead mare had a foal. It looked exactly like Legend so that’s why she called him Legend 2.

And so after that Legend2 came forward and took his Father’s place as leader of the herd.

This week the year 7 and 8 students have gone to a Leadership camp for 3 days and Room 2 have the 6 year 6 students in our class and we love having them!!!!!!!!! We were really busy today and we will miss the year 6's when they go back to their room on Thursday, we would like to keep them all the time.

You could win 40 house points if you walked back from the pool with your partner and stayed in line today. Some people earned over 220 house points!!! They were so good at walking with their partner, staying in line and practising road rules.

Libby was the Princess today because we got a glitter wand from 'Sunny's' and after a bit of Abracadabra it turned Libby into a Princess and she made an excellent Princess all day.

My Grandparents live in Morrinsvile and they have a pool. It is in the middle of a paddock and it has a electric fence round it. The pool is made of light blue tiles and they are as big as kitchen tiles. It is really deep.

The pool is really cold even though it has heating. I think the pump blew but Randall, my Grandfather, insists it didn’t.
I really suck at swimming so I practiced swimming. I managed to swim a length of freestyle, backstroke and breast stroke.

Abby, Amelia and I (my cousins) were bombing my uncle Brian. I can do the best bomb even though Abby is 11 and Amelia is 10. Finally uncle Brian gave in and ran away.
After that we played water tag. I was the tagger first so I tricked Abby by going underneath her and I got her so she was the tagger.

Diving is the thing I loath. I always do belly flops . So when I practiced diving I did a lot of belly flops.

I had a lot of fun. After four days we left Morrinsvile. But who knows? It may be the start of another holiday!

This is how we get to the pool each day. We always look forward to going swimming and cheer when it's time to get our togs.

We swim four days a week in the Fordell Community Baths. Parents help us walk there and take swimming groups. The baths are very deep. It is fun.

We read when the wind changed and created pictures of ourselves to decorate the library.

Our Inquiry: What we want to find out about bees.

What we would like to find out !
· Do bees really do a dance and if they do what does the dance look like?
· Is honey really bee sick ?
· How is honey really made ?
· What is Varroa mite ?
· Do all the sprays which people spray on plants to kill bugs and insects affect bees?
· How were the rounded bee hives made ?
· Do bees make wax as well ?
· Why do bees loose half their body and die when they sting ?

How are we going to find this information?

· Books, Internet and interviewing Apiarists.

What are we going to do with the information?

Our class's me profile

Our class did "Me profiles." There was heaps of different shapes that were each representing a different category. Then we drew a picture of ourselves in black crayon. We then cut out our pictures and then we stuck everything onto a huge piece of card. Then Mrs Fraser helped us create a cool name on Wordart. We got to choose the colours.

We learnt about group roles while we built paper towers and made outfits out of newspaper. We now know about working together to make a team and what roles everybody needs so we can work together like: the leader, the reporter, the recorder, the collector and the team members. It was fun.
