Welcome back to Term 4

Last term we ended term 3 with a great Mad Hatters Tea Party. We also watched Alice in Wonderland. This Term we started with Ms Newton on Monday becuase Ms Whitwell was in Wellington. The first thing we noticed was the big tree by the sandpit had been chopped down.
Yesterday it rained a lot. There was a huge lake outside our classroom. Some people had to go home early because of the rain. Also yesterday Cosmo our class bear came back from the big wide world. He was travelling around a lot of different countries.
Today the buses can't get to school because of all the flooding and neither can Mrs Reddish. We only have half a class. It is very quiet.

Mad Hatter's Party

On Friday the last day of school we had a Mad hatter's tea party. Everyone brought  a hat and shared it's history. We sat around in our hats and drank from teac ups. We had sandwhiches, sausage rolls and cupcakes!Bridie wore a scottish hat , Ethan wore a bowler hat. Adam stuck random words on his fishing hat, to make it look like a mad hat. Geordie wore a sombero, it was very colourful. Ryan was in a rush and grabbed the first hat he could find- his sister's! George wore a cap from Australia- he got it this year on a trip there! Elena wore a clown hat- striped with pom poms! Elena has used it for horse shows. Loulou had a flash had, furry and covered with flames. It looks like a circus hat. Anna had an Australian outback hat, she covered it with purple feathers! Christian had a black party hat with sparkley dots all over it! Its his favourite hat. Javan brough an old golfing hat, for the party today Javan pinned cards all over it! Seth brought his dad's hat from Australia, it is made out of rabbit skin and is very smooth. Georgina brought a cap that she got in Queenstown, it is a significant hat because she got it on her her first plane trip. Lauren had a pink hat  ( surprise), it is a like a princess hat, pink, fluffy, twinkly , it is very pretty! Ella's  hat was her mothers, she had worn  it to the Melbourne cup! Libby's hat came from Palmerston, it is a straw hat with  pink and blue ribbons woven through. John's hat came from the North Pole- from Santa Claus! It's John's favourite hat, its even been swimming, when he fell out of a kayak! Caitlin's hat is just a farm hat.... its a black beanie, warm and snug! Bridgitte had a jester's hat!  Colourful! Kayla had a witche's hat, it had hair attached! Kayla's mum wore it last for Halloween. Jaida's hat came from Samoa, a round flax hat. Gemma's came from Samoa too, her Grandma bought it for her! Both hats have a different picture on them. Renee wore a snuggly hat, its a monkey hat, it has long ears with pockets. Rebekah had two hats, her favourite, a  cap, the other was her snuggly pale green beanie, she stole it out of Bailey's drawer. Grace brought her favourite hat, she got it when she was 4 years old. It is pink and made out of corduroy. Larissa brought her dad's hat, it is huge, black and silver,  flash hat from Mexico.  Another Somberero and it is beautiful!

The Gourd Project

On Friday Mrs Beautrais from the Whanganui Museum came to us! She brought with her a lot of gourds. Gourds are a plant that grow on a vine, a bit like a marrow. The ones she brought were all different sizes and shapes because that's how gourds grow. Mrs Beautrais shared infromation about gourds, how they grow and what they are used for. Then she invited us to take part in the  gourd project. This project lasts a year, we start now by germinating our seeds, then growing them to seedlings, next we will plant them in the garden and hope they produce gourds. Next year, when they
have dried out,
we can decorate them and have them in the museum as part of their gourd exhibition.

Cross Country

Tuesday afternoon, out in the lovely spring sun, Fordell showed their running skills. The course was bumpy, long and even had some cow poo! Everyone ran superbly, the parents cheered, the teachers took photos and the points were tallied.
Another win to Kowhai House but success for everyone who took part!

Our Assembly Item

On Friday we shared some of our space work. We played the 'Star Wars ' theme in between each group's presentations. The first group shared our Space travel advertisements that we had made for homework. The second group shared postcards we had written from space to our parents, imagining we were on a different planet, the last group shared the aliens we had made from plasticine. To finish our item we sang the Planet Rap. We did a great job and our audience enjoyed themselves.

Making Planes

As part of looking at flight today we made our own paper planes. We used different types of paper, and different  designs. Some had wide wings, others were very narrow. Adam mad a square shape with lots of folds.  We lined up on the court and had a 'plane off' . We made sure we were all on the same line and throwing the same way. Our winners were Libby, Rebekah and Seth, each of theirs went a long way- but in a different style. Seth's was a fast flyer, Rebekah's was acrobatic and did swoops and Libby's  flew straight.

Making Parachutes

Att eh end of last week we had a go at making parachutes. We have been looking at the ideas of floating, gliding and soaring. First we compared papers, flat and crumpled then we made our parachutes out of plastic bags.  We made big ones, small ones, square, round, ones with little slits and ones without. We used a paper clip as a result. We had a parachute drop to compare results.

Sadako and the Cranes

Last week, as it was Hiroshima day, we watched, read and discussed the events of the first Atomic bomb drop.  We heard the story of Sadoko and Cranes and we watched a clip showing us how to make cranes. We all made a paper crane, some with more success than others.  Some of us went home and made more, tiny ones, big ones, colourful ones. The more we made the better we got.

Andy Warhol Art Work

In the afternoons, while some Room 2 people are working on the Science fair or Production, the rest have joined with Room 1 to work on various activities with their blogs. This week we looked at the artist Andy Warhol and the effects he created with photos and colour. We took our own photos, some of us struck a pose, then using the befunky app we  tried different effects on our photo. Once we had 4 we liked, we uploaded them into a publisher document, framed, cropped and titled them. They look really colourful. If you want to see more - check out our individual blogs!

Reflection by Larissa

This term I have really enjoyed home work because it was challenging and I had to think about how to set it out. My challenges have been spelling. Highlights this term were when the ASB man came to talk about how to be wise with money. My goal next term is to get faster at typing. Next term I want to learn more about animals.

George's Term Reflection

This term I really enjoyed soccer skill's  because we got to play games and get some exercise.

Reflection of the Term by Georgina

This term I have really enjoyed learning about Puanga, Matariki and Maori New Year. In art I liked making our sunflowers with card, crepe and tissue paper. I loved learning about the planets and the Solar System.
This term I found maths quite challenging because we were doing probability trees which is Year 9 work. I also found writing couplets in poetry hard.
Highlights this term was challenging myself with my homework and playing Rippa Rugby at Springvale. I also really like the ASB man who talked to us about money.
Next term I want to learn more types of poems and how to write them.
Goals for next term include improving my writing and maths and getting along with everyone better.

My Reflection By Lauren P

Term two has been a great ten weeks. Doing our vases, art pockets and through the window collages were some of my favourite things this term because we got to have fun and pastel and collage and when we had finished a piece of artwork there was always another piece of artwork to start.
I found maths hard because I moved up in a group, but I am very proud of myself! Writing was hard too because I had so many ideas, but it was to hard to put them all together.
My highlights this term was going to the Cosmodome, seeing Harold the giraffe and having the ASB man because they were all funny and I learnt a lot .
Next I want to learn about flying animals like birds and bees and make movies and take photos of them because I find them interesting and fun.
My goals for next term is to start typing with two hands and get my work finished quicker and still make a good job of it!

Anzac Quiz by Ella

Over the last few weeks we have been learning about the Anzacs. Ms Whitwell has got us to make an Anzac quiz. You have to think of six questions and six answers. After you`ve done that you have to put it on a card. This afternoon in science we are going to wire up the back of them. When they are finished someone answers them and if they are right the light or motor should go.

Football Skills by John

On Thursday we did football skills. I thought it was a bit strange that the man who was coaching us didn't even introduce himself or anything. He just put us into teams. My team was Libby, George, Seth, Elena, Georgina and I. We won both our games and it was bundles of fun. I can't wait until next Thursday because we have football skills again.

Refection by Libby

The best thing this week was Art because I love Art and it is always challenging.

Hockey By George

On Wednesday Fordell Blues faced Gonvile Green, we were on Field 2. Our game was at 4.10pm, Gonville  played a good game but sadly they lost 5-0. My brother scored 2 goals, I scored 3. Ryan, Ari and Issac were our awesome defenders.

The Hockey game by Adam

On 12th of June the Fordell hockey team went to play Gonville Blues. We got on the field and got in our places. Everybody waited then the whistle went. At first there were no goals but then the Gonville Blues started scoring goals. Everybody tried there hardest but we  were losing. At the end Fordell lost. We only scored one goal. The score was 7-1. It was a really hard game. By Adam.

Hockey by Ella

Last  Wednesday night the Fordell Stick`s hockey team faced Gonville team. We played at Gonville turf at 5 pm on court 1. Fordell played a good game but sadly we lost 7-1.  Renee scored the only goal and when she scored the crowd went wild! At the start of the game our Coach put Renee, Adam, Gemma and I as strikers. Catlin, Ryan and Jaida as midfielders and Christian as goalie.  At half time I had to leave hockey to go to Ballet. Our Coach put on different people in different places.I hope we have a better game next week.

Awesome P.E By Renee

Yesterday afternoon Room2  did P.E. We are focusing on our Rugby skills and are learning to pass properly, catch and run with the ball.
We got into 3 groups of  9 and got in a circle with one person in the middle, the person in the middle called someone's name and that person had to run around the outside of the circle and get into the middle before the ball was passed around the circle.
After that we played a game that was sort of like touch rugby and netball. Some of the girls like me started do netball passes and thought we were just playing netball.
Next we played numbers, that was great fun. I think that everyone is really improving in rugby skills!

The Latest movie by Adam

Last term I made lots of movies with my friends from school. I have my own camera and tripod. I would invite people over from school and make movies and bring them to school. Everyone liked my movies. One movie took two days to do and two weeks to plan.   Ethan and I always do movies together. Whenever I'm doing a movie Ethan is always there. The latest movie is lots of adverts. and Ethan  and I looked on you tube at ads and copied them. So  Ethan and I  remade them. I'ts really funny. First we did spray and walk away. Then a chainsaw advert. That's all we did. We are going to do more. We are going to do the State advert and some drink driving adverts. But instead of drink driving we are going to do it about homework. It is really funny. I showed Mum and Dad the ones we had done so far and they laughed at it. It was funny.

The Nature Train by Bridgitte

During  week 4, Ms. Whitwell was away all week so we got a different teacher! We were lucky because Room 2 didn't get the same teacher each day. The teachers were: Ms. Newton, Mrs. Round tree, Ms. Newton, Mrs. Round tree and then Mr. Walker. When we had Ms. Newton the second time she decided  that it was time to go on a nature train! At first I had no idea of what a nature train was but as soon as Ms. Newton explained it, everyone was very excited!
We were going outside to look for plants and sticks that made an interesting sound. We were making the the sound of nature.
All of Room 2 lined up outside waiting for the teacher to come. Around the school we marched looking every where and filling up the big box Ms. Newton had brought to put the sticks and plants in. Soon there was no room left in the box for any more so it came to the point when we had to get into a group and make a band with our nature instruments. Everyone made fantastic instruments and all of the bands made some brilliant music. I thought Room 2 enjoyed the nature train a lot. It was great day!

Harold the Giraffe by Libby

On Wednesday Room 2 went to see Harold the Giraffe. We learnt about keeping ourselves healthy and how to read a NIP (nutrition, information panels).
In an activity we each got a label that says a type food on it. Then we had to put the label in a column salt, sugar or fat. There were lots in the sugar column.
I hope I can go again!

P.E. By Lauren P

Last week we did rugby skills in P.E. We Had to split up into three groups of 9 and play a little game, in a circle. After we split into two groups of 18 and play the same game. Some people thought it was harder. Others thought it was easier.
Then we got to go back in our groups of 9 and play a game that's a little bit like touch rugby. In the end my team won!
It was getting to the end of P.E, but Ms Whitwell said we could play a game of numbers. We got given a number and if she called our number, we had to try and score a goal without getting our ripper ripped off ourselves. P.E was lots of fun and I can't wait until next week when we get to learn the skills of another sport.

Harold the Giraffe by Ella

Harold the Giraffe has come to our school this week. Yesterday we visited him. We all had to help him with his homework for the week. We are learning about the human body and the four main systems the circulatory system, the digestive, the respiratory and the nervous system. Yesterday we learnt about the liver. The liver has 500 jobs to do all by itself, these are some of it`s jobs; the liver is very hot therefore it is in charge of warming the blood, it stores Vitamins and Minerals, breaks down poisons and chemicals and weighs about 1.75kg.

The race course around the playground by Adam

One cold afternoon the class was a bit bored and tired of doing all the work that Ms Whitwell told us to do so she said lets go out for a game to warm you up. We all went outside to the playground. Ms Whitwell said get into your houses. We all lined up. Ms Whitwell told us to do a race course around the playground. We had to go up ladders and slide down slides and climb up things. It looked awesome. 'Go' Ms Whitwell shouted. We all raced around the playground. Up and down, up and down, up and down and all over the place.
At the end Miro lost. It was really fun!

The Life Education Bus! By Renee

This week the Life Education Bus has been at Fordell School, how exciting! We are focusing on the body journey and we've already learnt so much. Some of the facts are: the liver has 500 jobs to do, the liver is the largest organ inside your body and 4 of the systems inside us are Respiratory, Circulatory, Digestive and Nervous system. One of the highlights for me in the life education bus is having a photo with Harold the giraffe!

Fraction Maths

In Ms Whitwell's maths group we have been working very hard learning about fractions. We have been finding fractions around us, naming fractions and finding fractions of a set.
Today some of us made fraction circles, we had to be careful to check all the parts were the same!

The others of us were working very quietly from our books and finding fractions of number problems for example what is a quarter of 100, what is a half of 150, what is a fifth of 45 we used our number knowledge of doubles and family facts.

Technogly By George

On Friday Fordell school had our technolgy challange. My favourite thing was  making a stretcher. We had to use news paper, tape, string and scissors to make a stretcher that would carry us..In Miro I was the one that got carieded across the tin shed. In Tawa it was Sam and in Kowhai it was Jaeella.  I didn't know how it was going to go, my head fell through the stretcher ! Tawa won with their stretcher, theirs was long and had good handles to carry it.  Next time well will be better!

Cosmo's Birthday! By Renee

Yesterday it was Cosmo's birthday Party. Everyone from Room 2 had been really busy making invitations for all the Room 3 children, blowing balloons up and tying them to the tin shed roof and thinking of party games to play. All of the Room 3 children brought their teddy bears to share with all the other kids. After we introduced all of the teddy bears the fun started. We played 4 games. My favourite game was when the music stopped you had stop dancing and choose a corner to stand in and then Ms. Whitwell  would spin the pointer and if it pointed to your corner you were out. Then we got our Room3 buddies and read them a story about bears while Ms. Whitwell got Cosmo's cake ready. There were cupcakes stacked up on top of each other and on top there were 10 candles. The cupcakes were delicious! I hope that Cosmo has a birthday party next year.

Prehistoric Music by Ella

Last week we wrote a story about Prehistoric Music with Ms Newton. This is mine.

I am a musician in ancient Egypt. I  play music for my King, the Pharaoh.. My name is Xheria I have a friend, her name is Zencara. I love music and the King loves to hear my music. I love to play the Harp and the Double Reed Pipe, Zencara plays the Harp and the Lute. The King lets me sit in a seat beside him and I play for him. Zencara and I like to play and sing together as a duet for the King and his family. I stay at the palace, in a little room beside Zencara`s room, in the room I keep my instruments. The King and his wife have a little girl, each night I sing or play for her. I like singing for the King and his family.

Cosmo's birthday party by Adam

On Tuesday the 4th of June it was Cosmo's birthday party. Rooms 3 and 2 went to celebrate. Room 2 made a invitation for Room 3 to go to Cosmo's birthday in the tin shed. Room 2 were the hosts and Room 3 were the guests. Room 2 buddied up with Room 3. Room 3 brought some teddy bears along for Cosmo and they introduced them to the classes. We played lots of games there. The winner won something out of the Ms Whitwell's goodie basket. We read some teddy bear books to room 3. At the end there was cake. Everyone got a piece. It was yum. Cosmo had a great birthday.

Science by Tineisha

This morning room 2 did some Science with Miss Whitwell. We had some testing tubes and we also had some stuff out of the kitchen. We had to mix cabbage juice and one of the chemicals together. My favourite was to mix the cabbage and the vinegar because it really changed colour!

Reflection by Ethan

The best thing this week was science  because we got to make lava lamps.
I learnt how to figure  out maths problems easier. The one thing I will remember from this week  is how to make a baking soada bomb. Next I would like to  make a coke rocket.

Reflection by Michael

The best thing that happened this week was in science when we got to make bombs but  unfortunately none of them exploded. Ethan Libby Ella and Tineisha's group  nearly exploded! This week I learnt the most in science, like if you put mentos in coke it will explode!

Reflection by John

The best thing that I did this week was science because we learnt how to make baking soda bombs.
I think I learnt the most in writing because I got a key to describe.
One new thing I learnt is if you give a baby a whole tube of adult toothpaste it could die because it has baking soda.
Next I want to learn how to paragraph my writing.

The Navy Band By Lauren P

Today room 2 got into buses and went to the Opera House. We went to see the amazing Navy Band! They played lots of loud music and invited kids onto the big stage to do dance the can-can or conduct the band. My favourite piece of music was the one that mixed up lots of pieces of music from movies and put it all together.

The Navy band by Adam

On the 28th of May the whole school went to the Navy band in the Opera house. We went in buses to it. Unfortunly 1 of the buses broke down so lots of people were squised into the first bus and people went into cars. When we got there we all lined up ready to go in. We took our seats and watched the show. People sang, people acted and people played insturments. It was really funny and fun. Lots of times they asked for audience to come up and do stuff. This lady went round to people and put the microphone to people's mouth to sing. It happened to me. There was this person firing water guns at people. It was really fun. All together the music sounded awesome. The were trumpets, triangles, drums and flutes. I would love to go again.

Writing by Bridgitte

This week we have been doing some descriptive writing about the colour.. In our writing we have been telling you what we see through the window. In class Ms Whitwell put up three lovely photos. When we  read the descriptive writing you feel and hear the writing.

Amazing Science! by Renee

On Monday mornning in room 2 we did Science. Every table got 6 test tubes which all had the indicator in it ,cabbage juice, there were 6 kitchen chemicals that we got to add to the cabbage juice and see what  would happen. After that we tried to turn the all the colours that we had just made to the color that we started with, purple. Unfourtunately my group was not succesful at doing this and made a few test tubes fizz up and over flow. My favourite part was when I poured vinegar into one of the test tubes and it fizzed up!

Science by Larissa

This morning room 2 did science. My favorite part was mixing the liquids together and seeing what colour they made. I learnt that baking soda can clean.

Science by Ethan

This morning we did science with Ms. Whitwell, we used test tubes, we started off with cabbage juice then we added either lemon juice, dish washing liquid, baking soda or toilet cleaner. My favourite part was mixing them together , most of them just changed colour and if you added the wrong one it fizzed up.

Science By Lauren P

This morning we learnt about accids, bases and neutrals. We got put into groups and got six test tubes on a rack. First there was cabbage juice in them. We had to tip in baking soda, vinegar, toilet cleaner, soap, lemon juice and dish washer liquid. By the time we'd finished we had a mix of different colours. Then we had to try and make a neutral. I learnt that if you have a base and you want to turn it into a neutral you have to tip in an
acid. My favourite part was when we had to tip something into the cabbage juice and got to see how it reacted.

Science By George

This morning Room 2 did science with Ms Whitwell, we used test tubes. We put cabbage juice in first then we added either lemon juice, dish washing liquid, baking soda  or toilet cleaner. My favorite part was mixing the chemicals.

Trevor Shailer - Guest Speaker

Today Trevor Shailer, an Olympian athlete came to Fordell School and shared his 'story' with us.
He was not just an interesting speaker but entertaining! He used great expression and actions while he talked. Sometimes he was funny! We learnt  a lot about him, his childhood and his experiences that led to him becoming a boxer. We enjoyed hearing that his coach referred to him as a' flash thoroughbred'.  He won 143 fights out of 177.We also learnt a lot about his experience of the 1992 Olympics. His loss in just 9 minutes and how that led him to go onto attend, but not participate, at many more Olympic games.
Ella found him inspiring. Bridgitte felt he represented the importance of following your dreams. Lauren heard the importance of having a goal and working towards it. Bridie said its all about perseverance!

Gallipoli by Christian

Out of my trench I can see guns firing and dust going in peoples eyes. I am shooting a sniper gun. There are dead bodies all over and there are only six people left. It is quiet because all of the men went to the beach for a quick swim.

Life in the wars by Bridgitte

Out of the boat I can see the sparkling golden sand covering the beach, above, the straw high cliff edge is surrounding the beach. Wild, deadly bullets attack from above and suddenly the wonderful sand is stained in the ruby red blood with falling bodies. The clear navy sky darkens and turns into a shady miserable grey. Brave soldiers dodge the bullets crazily out of control. Heading for the trenches the lucky men are still being watched.

Gallipoli by Jaida

Out my small trench I can see rusty charcoal guns laying across the rocky beach. I see the grave yard were the dead soldiers are buried. Up on the hills are the enemies trenches. I am out of my trench and I can see the blood from the soldiers stretching across the golden rocky beach. I can see up on the hills the Turks waiting for another attack. The boats are arriving with the food and some cards from our families.

World War 1, Gallipoli, By Rebekah

Off the boat I can see ruby red blood flowing through the water below. The trail of blood leads to a beach of golden sand. The dead soldiers lie in peace in the tan dust. Deadly, charcoal guns fire in every path. Wild bullets are flying like lightning bolts. The clear, ivory shrapnel is sprinkled all over the beach and up above the  thunder rocky cliff. The evil tone of Turkish soldiers are loading up ebony bombs. Above, The sapphire sky just stands there up high in the sky while big cream clouds float past.  The stench is unbearable off the bodies. The sight is a deadly fight in Gallipoli.

Gallipoli by John

From my cramped trench I can see flaming blood streaked across the sandy beach. The rocky hills are chocolate brown and are covered in deadly shrapnel. It is extremely squished in our cold muddy trench. The graveyard is heartbreaking and a few poppies are starting to sprout. Biscuit crumbs are scattered across wet dirt. More and more battle ships are coming to Gallipoli and giving us food and water. I am terrified because tonight I have to stay up all night and keep on guard.

Gallipoli by Michael

From the boat I can see polished charcoal guns.Beside the polished charcoal guns I can see smelly, dead Turkish bodies.Under the smelly, dead Turkish bodies I can see the blood red sand. The blood red sand leads to the wet, rocky hills. On top of the wet, rocky hills I can see dirty brown trenches.Outside of the dirty brown trenches I can see big dirty sand bags.

Gallipoli by Ella

From my crowded boat I can see smelly dead bodies lying in flame red blood.
I can see dry dusty ground.
I can see hard working soliders.
I can see horrible gray rocky hills.
From my boat I can see soliders peeping out of their small trenches.
I can see soliders tryng to dodge the deadly bullets.
I can see the brown sandbags that are meant to protect us..
I hate Gallipoli.

Gallipoli by Anna

Out my trench I can see the mind blowing ruby red sea. Out my small trench I can see  all the dead body's lying on the sandy beach . Looking  out of my trench  I can see my enemies  up in the hills

Gallipoli By George

From the boat I can see a streak of blood stretching across the sand. I can also see bullet flying past me . I can see  bodies lying on the beach body on body. I can also see my claustrophobic trench. I can't wait to get home. I can see  the charcoal gun getting  smaller by the minute

Gallipoli by Adam

In the trench I can see the rocky wall with shiny ruby blood smeared on it.
It feels muddy, dusty and dirty.
The smell of dead rotten people fills my nostrils.
Very loud shouting and screaming echoes through the walls of the trenches.
Loud screams of bullets rain over the battle field.
In the trench I can feel  mud, sweat and blood and I can feel my feet rotting in my shoes.
In the trench I feel cramped and squished.

What was life like in the war? by Renee

From my trench I can see a flowing river of rosy red blood from the soldiers that have been wounded or killed. I'm surrounded by the smell of stinky gross dead bodies in the muddy,  wet, brown ground. The only thing I can hear is the loud noise of gunshots from the turks polished charcoal guns. Up above me I can see a tower of rocky cliffs. There is no where to hide!

Through the window By Ethan

Through the window I see a cool reflection in the  blue river.
In the reflection I see a dazzling, creamy, white moon. In the sky I see a dim, orange sunset. Below, on land, I see charcoal trees .

Out my window by Loulou

Out my window I can see a big windy gold road.
Beside the road  there is nice fresh green grass.
Above the road there is a big blue summer sky
On the grass there are big spring trees.

In the bush by Caitlin

Out my window I can see  beautiful bush,  branches and water, rocks and  rocky ground are through it and the sunshine comes through. Out my window I can see millions of silver ferns
.Out my window I can see green grass, flowing water, green rocks, I can see branches across the water, a water fall. Out my window I can see lots of spring trees with moss clinging.

Mangamahu, Kaitoke, Okoia and Upokangaro.  We lined up in twelve different teams . We  listened to the teachers and they took two groups until the bell went for us to swap places .At about two o`clock we left in the two buses and went back to school .We
arrived back at school at 2:30  and had half an hours worth of play then went home for the weekend .

Rocky forest by Grace

In through the bushes I can see the olive  moss on the slimy rocks. In between the rocks the ivory
water flies past. The morning light gives it an amazing shine. Up above, the tan vines swing. The fish underneath the water are little and  their  glossy colours swim through the creek.  Everywhere thin brown sticks lie.

The Night River by Bridgitte

Through the window I can see the winter white moon gleaming on the quiet navy river. In the shadows, the dark ebony forest appears with its clear reflection dancing on the river. The hills are
polished black, hiding in the cool foggy shadows.

We go to Room 3 so they can get better at typing and writing. We get better at communicating and co-operating and we have to really think about punctuation and grammar!

Mountain pictures by Tineisha and Ella

Over the last few weeks we have been drawing our mountain pictures. Ms Whitwell read us the story about the warrior mountains. We got into pairs then we made an outline with pencil, then we drew over it with white chalk. After that we coloured them in with pastels of our choice. After they were all finished Ms Whitwell inked them and the chalk turned black. They look great!
