Self Potraits by Renee

A couple of weeks ago we started our self portrait's. We drew a draft copy of our face with lots of detail. Then we did a real copy on white card. After that the fun began, we started to paint them! First we painted the colour of our face. Then we did the colour of our hair. After that we did our whites in our eyes, our eyebrows and eyelashes. Then we did our lips, mine were really big. I think every one's pictures look awesome.

The Fish Tank by Libby

A few days ago Ms Whitwell brought in a fish tank for us. We did an anonymous vote which meant no one knew who voted for what. The votes were: gold fish, frogs, turtles, crabs and lizards. There where 7 votes for the turtle. The votes were very close. I think the way we should raise money to buy the turtle and get supplies for it is that we should make a toy sale. I can't wait for our turtle!!

Room 1 At Camp by Tineisha

On Wednesday room 1 went to camp and ever since Fordell has been so  quiet. Rebekah and I got to be a bus monitor and we also got to do words with the little kids. I loved it when the room 1 kids went to camp because there were no bossy big heads.

Our Item by Ryan

This week we are on assembly. For our item this week we are doing our "Catch phrase's". We first came up with our "Catch Phrase's" in week two for our blog and now we are doing them for assembly. We are each doing a "Catch Phrase" then sharing some of our work.

Room 1 At Camp by Rebekah

A few days ago room 1 went on Leadership Camp. Fordell school has been so peacful and quiet. We have been able to sit in their seats and play games without big, bossy people bossying us around. Tineisha and I have been doing extra jobs like... being bus monitors, doing word tins with the little kids and taking care of duties. It's been so good to have them gone but they're coming back tomorrow!

Name Monsters by Ella

Over the last few days we have been working on our name monsters. Most people have finished. We folded the piece of paper in half then we wrote our name in pencil then wrote over that in sharpie, turned it over, put it against the window and traced over it with sharpie next we  coloured it  with crayons then dyed it. Ms Whitwell is still thinking where to put them- they look great so we want everyone to be abe to admire them!

The Fish Tank by Georgina

This week we have been deciding what we want as a class pet. Ms Whitwell has bought in a fish tank and she said that we could put something in it. We did a class vote and we decided that we wanted a turtle. We have been researching turtles and how much they cost. We are looking foward to getting our turtle.

Buddy reading on Fridays

On Fridays we go to room 4 and share books. We choose a picture book earlier in the week, we practice how we are going to read it making sure we know all the words and that we are using expression. When we get to room 4 after morning tea we choose a buddy and find a quiet place either inside or outside in the shade. We read first then our buddy shares a reader with us. We get to practice our listening skills!

Back at school by George

To be back at school it is fun. Since we have been back at school we've been  swimming. We have done some maths. We've been doing lots and  lots of art. We have  got a new Principal. His name is Mr Walker. and a new teacher her name is Ms Whitwell. Also we've been doing writing and reading.  I like being back at school.

Back at school by Ella

At school we have been doing a lot of swimming. We also do a lot of art. We are going to be doing a lot more art because our walls don`t have a lot of art work and they look very blank. I enjoy maths, reading and writing which we also do a lot of. I enjoy playing at morning tea and lunch time with my friends. We have a new teacher, her name is Ms Whitwell, we also have a new Principal his name is Mr Walker. We have been researching the Treaty of Waitangi.

Back at school by Adam

Being back at school is boring. I liked the hoildays. I wish holidays lasted forever. I've learned lots  of stuff though in the first week and a half. We've been learning where our family came from and   I've found out that all of Dad's family come from England, except Dad's grandad, he came from Ireland. We have been going swimming lots. Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoon we've  been swimming. The whole class is learning lots about the Treaty of Waitangi  and Abel Tasman. We have been doing lots of writing, reading and handwriting with our new teacher, Ms Whitwell. Every Friday after morning tea we do buddy reading with Room 4. We have been doing lots of art with Ms Whitwell. We have drawn ourself and all sorts. Still, hoildays are always the best.

Half the drawing by Georgina

This week in art we have been drawing half our faces. Ms Whitwell took a photo of everyone in the class and cut them in half and stuck them onto a piece of paper. We then drew in the other half of our faces while looking at ourselves in a mirror. They are looking fantastic!

Welcome Back to 2013

Welcome back to school Room 2. Already we have started swimming which has been great fun in the Fordell Pool. We have had great fun in the water.
We have also been focusing on writing and already we have written letters about ourselves and we are working on stories about what life would be like if we were famous and rich.
We have started Maths which is a real focus at our school.
Our new teacher, Ms Whitwell has settled in nicely and so has our new principal, Mr Walker.
Twilight netball has started and we have two teams representing Fordell School which will be great fun.
What a great start to our school year and judging by the first week, it is going to be full of action!!!!
